[Review] Na Aroon @ Ariyasom Villa Bangkok, A Hidden Gem Around Sukhumvit 1

  • 0
Na Aroon, an award winning vegetarian restaurant located in AriyasomVilla, is definitely a hidden gem of Bangkok even for the locals. Tucked away at the very end of Sukhumvit 1, it isn't somewhere you happen to stroll by. Which means it's that much more secluded – a perfect hideout for those seeking for an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Na Aroon is conveniently located at the very end of Sukhumvit 1 and in a walkable distance from BTS Ploenchit and Nana station.

When I first entered the place I couldn't help but feel captivated as if I've stepped into a well established property of the past. The villa, now operating as a luxury boutique hotel, spa and a restaurant was built during 1941 which was passed down since through generations and have beautifully maintained its' authentic traditional architecture style and ambiance.

From someone who's so used to being around loud noises, tall buildings, and rare sight of trees and flowers – this was a very refreshing experience. It felt almost as if I was on a spiritual retreat in which meditation only seemed suitable. Not only was I greeted with staffs who made me feel at home and provided utmost personal service, there were these cats who kept me company while I was exploring the property as well.

You can either choose to dine in a beautiful garden by the pool or the cozy indoor seats. It was evident how so much time and effort were put into this place.
Every detail and corner had something to offer for everyone who comes by. Be it peace of mind, tranquility, serenity... it was a strange feeling, really. Though I was at the heart of central Bangkok this place was so quiet, so peaceful that I sat their for a moment listening to the birds chirping and leaves rustling against each other which we, often times than not, hear but don’t have the luxury to listen.

Na Aroon is definitely one of those places you can confidently take your guests or special person to impress.

The menu here is extensive which guarantees there's something for everyone - from Thai vegetarian/seafood delicacies to Western food and even mouthwatering desserts. Not to mention most of the ingredients are organic and still able to satisfy our tastebuds with burst of flavors. You can find the entire menu here.

Satay tao hoo 155 ++ [  Marinated tofu grilled and served with spicy peanut sauce]

This had to be my favorite. For a vegetarian like myself this was a great alternative to satay made from meat because that spicy peanut sauce is something I can't give up. It goes perfectly with the pickled vegetable side that comes with it.

Hoi shell phad cha 285++ [Spicy stir fried scallops with herbs]

If you're willing to explore your taste buds with some Thai spice and herbs – this is the dish to go for. The burst of flavors mixed with plenty of scallops and vegetables is rather satisfying.

Gaeng keaw wan makeur ruam 200++ [Green curry with three varieties of egg plants and sweet basil leaves]

Green curry has been my all time favorite since I moved to Thailand about 15 years ago and without exaggeration, this had to be the best one yet. The curry wasn't too overpowering yet was rich in coconut flavor and had perfectly cooked egg plants. It was, simply put, a perfection in a bowl.

Kao pad tom yum talay 275++ [Hot and spicy fried rice with mixed seafood topped with a fried egg]

If you're in Thailand tom yum is a must but if you're a little reluctant to go all-in why not get your taste buds prepared with tom yum fried rice? This dish is a perfect combination of spicy, sweet and savory flavors and like other dishes, one of the best you'll find in Bangkok. All the dishes came out so well prepared and beautifully presented it made you appreciate every bite.

Not to mention Na Aroon is listed under EZTABLE which means you no longer have to call the restaurant to reserve a table and also if you forget your wallet at home? No problem – the app's got you covered.

When you ask for the check at the end of your meal – they will send you the bill directly to your phone.

I was literally blown away by both - discovery of this hidden oasis of Bangkok as well as the convenience of the EZTABLE application. Regardless of your dietary preferences or whether you’re a herbivore or a carnivore – I guarantee you'll have a satisfying meal here at Na Aroon alongside nature and soothing ambiance.
